Why I love my local community theaters:

LTVB: Aida and Born Yesterday this season, and RENT during the summer.
LTN: Avenue Q. Hells yes.

Generic Theatre: ARCADIA. Dear lord this is my favourite play ever. So excited. Oh, and they’re doing The Light in the Piazza too.

Smithfield: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Ends next weekend.

PCT: Doubt. Saw this play done by Regent last season and WOW. Incredibly engaging and makes you think and discuss it long after it’s over.

Williamsburg: Steel Magnolias and Chicago. I look forward to those.

Hey, local followers, anyone wanna go with me to any of these? Pretty much all of them have student rates and I’ll probably see most of them regardless but it’s more fun with friends. :D

I would love to be Amneris in Aida OR Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Moritz in Spring Awakening or Mark Cohen in RENT

Henry in Next to Normal or Clyde Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde (:

CRUTCHIE OR DAVEY OHMYGOOOOOOOOOOD

Crutchie, of course :)

Davey of course.

Mark in Rent. (Roger’s my favourite, but I’d get to be his best friend, tango with the badass Joanne, and dance on the table. And I’ve always identified much more with Mark.)

I think the lack of actual singing/acting/dancing talent is a bigger problem than gender, though.

Runners up: Freddie (Chess), Hunter ([title of show]), Henry (Next To Normal.)

ALL THE CHOICES.

The Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, Javert (or Valjean) in Les Miserables, Moritz in Spring Awakening, Mark in Rent, Henry in Next to Normal, Fiyero in Wicked, Freddie in Chess…

Whenever I watch this I forget it’s Daniel Radcliffe playing a bunch of other people and not a bunch of other people dressed as Daniel Radcliffe.

yeah, it really is sort of frightening how he literally becomes the other characters.

Daniel Radcliffe = talent.

You know, I’d never actually noticed this. Especially in the first gif he looks so much like the characters he’s imitating - the Fleur and Hermione Harrys are absolutely spot on. Even the way Hermione!Harry breathes is just like the actual Hermione.

My job is to find sympathy where society refuses to. People like Loki are often locked up and judged and reviled-and rightfully, kind of, chastised and castigated and lionized. My job is to find the humanity in him. Ultimately, underneath all of Loki’s hatefulness and spite is a lost child. I have to get underneath the skin of that. He’s just someone who is so lacking in self-esteem, all he needs is true affection.

That’s the scary thing about theatre—it doesn’t live on. But that’s actually the most beautiful thing about it, too. That’s why it’s more beautiful than film and certainly more beautiful than television, because it’s like life. Real life. Any picture that you take or any video that you make of yourself is not really you, it’s only an image that represents the experience you had. In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn’t last—only in people’s memories and in their hearts. That’s the beauty and sadness of it. But that’s life—beauty and the sadness. And that is why theatre is life.

David Tennant on Absolute Radio

#His face here practically makes me cry #This is David Tennant okay - David. Tennant. #He’s been in a billion shows and movies and the opinion of one person shouldn’t really matter considering how famous and well-known he is #But it does - you can tell in his face #That he is obviously completely and utterly touched by this caller #He’s literally overcome by emotions and can’t even get the words out #After all this time after all these fans and shows and everything #He is still so humble and down-to-earth and just such a perfect person #And his face just kills me #Because as famous as he is #The fact that he still feels so strongly about his ability to touch people’s lives #Is just the most precious thing about him #He really feels like he’s just a normal guy living an extraordinary life #And I find that to be completely amazing #Many tend to lose themselves when they get famous #But David Tennant is always just himself #and he is brilliant (via winterinthetardis)
ALL OF THIS.
And the fact that in the deepest, most personal corners of his heart, David’s eight-year-old self is SOBBING WITH JOY that children are looking at him and calling him the “best Doctor,” because being the Doctor was something he’s wanted so badly for so long.

Sobbing

Things like this: big part of why I love acting and actors and the whole art form and am going to be part of that world.
